This page explains, in plain terms, how credits work and when you can get your money back. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
1. How credits work
- Credits are sold in prepaid packs, at fixed prices shown in EUR or USD before you pay.
- Credits are made available to your account immediately when your purchase is confirmed by Polar (our Merchant of Record — see Section 4 of the Terms).
- One credit is spent only when the AI system successfully generates an answer grounded in our research Corpus. If the Corpus can't answer your question, you are not charged and no credit is deducted; your question goes into our research queue instead.
- Credits do not expire while we operate the Service. If we ever decide to shut the Service down, we will give notice and offer to refund any unused credit balance in full.
- Credits are personal to your account and cannot be transferred, sold, or exchanged for cash except as set out below.
2. Your EU 14-day withdrawal right
If you are a consumer in the EU, the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU), as implemented in Poland by the Act on Consumer Rights of 30 May 2014, gives you a 14-day right of withdrawal from a distance contract for digital content or digital services, generally starting from the day of purchase.
That right can end early only if (a) the service has been fully performed, and (b) you gave prior express consent to immediate performance and acknowledged that you would lose the withdrawal right once it started (Art. 16(a) of the Directive; Art. 38(1) of the Polish Act). Because a credit pack is only "used up" credit by credit as you ask questions, we do not rely on that early-termination rule. Instead:
3. Our policy (meets or exceeds the statutory minimum)
- Unused credit packs: if you have not used any credits from a pack, you can request a full refund within 14 days of purchase, no questions asked, by emailing hello@sedesmaximus.com or using the refund control in your account.
- Partially used packs: if you've used some credits from a pack, we will refund the unused portion within the same 14-day window on request.
- Individual unsatisfactory answers: if a specific paid answer didn't meet your expectations (for example, it misread the question, missed an obvious source in our Corpus, or otherwise fell short), you can flag it using the feedback control under that answer within 14 days of receiving it, and we will re-credit that one answer's cost to your account. This applies per answer, not per pack, and works whether the credits came from a still-active or already-refunded pack.
- We may decline repeated or clearly abusive refund/re-credit requests (for example, a pattern of flagging every answer as unsatisfactory after reading it) at our reasonable discretion, and will tell you why if we do.
- Refunds for credit purchases are processed by Polar back to your original payment method; this can take a few business days depending on your bank or card provider.
4. How to request a refund
Email hello@sedesmaximus.com with your account email and, if relevant, the order ID from your Polar receipt, or use the in-account "Request refund" / answer feedback controls. We aim to respond within 3 business days.
5. Purchases are with Polar as Merchant of Record
Your payment transaction itself (charge, receipt, invoice, VAT/sales tax, chargeback handling) is with Polar, acting as Merchant of Record and seller of the credit pack. Polar's own buyer terms and refund mechanics for payment processing sit alongside — not instead of — this policy; where the two overlap, we honour whichever is more favourable to you. See Polar's terms at polar.sh/legal/checkout-buyer-terms.
